The Boys of Summer!

So we spent Saturday night at the place where people gorge on berry kabobs and sushi and flock to from the Far East on Mecca-like voyages to pay homage to their idol...I am of course talking about Safeco Field! The buzz is back in Seattle as the Mariners are playing great ball and in the thick of the playoff chase. Batista was the starting pitcher and threw a great game. We also saw Johjima hit a grandslam, Guillen throw a guy out at home, and JJ Putz put away the Tigers in the 9th. Go M's!

We always wondered what happened to the leg lamp...

After it's brief -- but noteworthy -- appearance on A Christmas Story, we were sure that the leg lamp went on to a life of glamorous fame only to retire to the Hollywood Hills after a successful movie career. Apparently it settled for basking customers in its warm glow at Cafe Piccolo in the Ravenna neighborhood. Cafe Piccolo is a great little family Italian place that Sterls and Brandi introduced us to by their house. Are all our posts about food?!?!

My favorite french toast!

This is the french toast at Volunteer Park Cafe. It's made with their homemade bread, mascarpone, and then toppped with bananas that are bruleed. It's so beautiful I had to take a picture!
