As of yesterday, we are now located in Seattle's Fremont neighborhood, which is just north of downtown situated near Lake Union. We were a bit bummed to be leaving Capitol Hill, but also excited as most of our good friends live on this side of the city. Fremont is a quaint neighborhood with lots of trees and personality, and we're looking forward to getting to know the area a bit better.
New neighbor #1 is the Fremont Troll, who you may recognize from the movie 10 Things I Hate About You.
Neighbor #2 is Russian dictator Vladimir Lenin. The statute was done under commission from the Soviet and Czechoslovak governments and once stood in Lenin Square. After the fall of communism, a Seattle resident saw it in a scrapyard in Czechoslovakia and bought and shipped it to Seattle. It now stands in the middle of the Fremont neighborhood.
Neighbor 3 is the Fremont Rocket. This is an actual rocket fuselage that was dismantled after the Cold War and through some creative ambition was attached to the side of a local business.
The last new neighbor is Paseo's, home to pretty much my favorite sandwich ever. As it is now just one block from our house, I hope to feast on this beauty much more frequently.
